2014 Golden Globes Nominees: My Views on The Expected and The Snubbed

The Award Season is around the corner again! Can't believe 2013 just breezed in and out like that. Anyways, beginning with The Screen Actors Guild Award nominations yesterday, the nods have started coming and they're moving in some actors and flicks' directions.

The Golden Globe Nominations were announced today, December 12, 2013 at the Beverly Hilton.

Steve McQueen's 12 Years A Slave, is by critical acclaim, expected to garner all the accolades next year. But, however, many still believe Gravity to be their 2013 movie of choice. Chiwetel Ejiofor, its star protagonist is apparently the front runner for the Best Actor title in all three (Academy Awards, SAG and Golden Globes). We'll just wait to see what January holds.

Also, I had been so aggrieved when New Girl was snubbed for The Emmys, but to my greatest surprise and delight, Zooey Deschanel's phenomenal funny-woman-ship has finally been acknowledged and she's the running for the Best Actress in a Television Comedy Series.
I would've loved to see Max Greenfield on the list of The Best Actor nominees though. Every avid New Girl watcher knows his amazing-ness.

In the Motion Picture area, I wasn't really shocked except that Lee Daniel's The Butler was nowhere to be found. C'mon Hollywood Foreign Press Association! It was a major snub.
I would've been stung as well if Idris Elba's name was missing. I mean, the late Mandela thought Idris Elba was him in a short clip. The mark of true thespian-ship. How convincing!

I am also really stoked that Leonardo DiCaprio has a nomination for the Wolf of Wall Street. I saw the trailer and was blown (and I was sad after seeing it because I saw some stuff about Martin Scorcese and Retirement). Leo is famous for being nominated so many times through the years but never really snagging a statuette. Next year is seriously this hottie's year!

Cutting the long story short, I'm quite pleased all in all with most of the nominees, Rush, Maggie Smith, Andy Samberg, Brooklyn 99. Below is the full list of nominees for next year's Golden Globe Awards.
